Add a Network Printer

Use this guide to add one of your store's printers to your computer so you can print to it.

Before You Start

• The printer's Windows name (the name Windows uses for the printer, such as PREO-COPIER). Find it on the label on the printer.
• Your work computer, with the Network Printers shortcut on the desktop

Steps

1. On your desktop, double-click the Network Printers shortcut.

   

   Result: A window opens showing all the printers at your store.

2. Click the search box in the top-right corner of the window.

   

3. Type the printer's name from the label.

   
   NOTE

   Some printers have similar names, such as PREO-COPIER and PREOFI-1-CDK. Make sure the name matches the label exactly.

4. Double-click the printer that matches the label.

5. Wait while Windows connects to the printer. A Windows Printer Installation window shows the progress.

   
   NOTE

   A printer notification may pop up in the bottom-right corner of your screen. You can close it.

How to Know It Worked

1. When the install finishes, a window opens with the printer's name in the title. This means the printer is installed. You can close this window.

   

2. The printer now shows in the printer list when you print.
